NC Power finishes strong in their first regional tournament

David Ragan coaches the 15 Blue team in a game at Barber Park on Jan 9.  The 15 Blues’ finished third in what was the team’s first regional tournament together.


 

The first regional tournament for NC Power has come to a close with great finishes from the three teams that played this weekend.  The 15 Black team ended their day with a 1st place finish in Henderson, NC and the 15 Blue team finished 3rd in Greensboro, NC.

Coached by David Ragan, the 15 Blue team won 2 out of three matches in pool play to come in 2nd in their pool.  In playoffs, the team fell in the semifinals to Fusion, the team that later won the tournament.  Eve Doss led the team as captain and helped them stay focused throughout the day.  Madison Ayres led the team in serves, and Courtlyn Leonard played solid defense and offense, with great back row attacks and many digs. Michelle Buccini did a great job adjusting to a 5-1 as a setter.  Overall, the 15 Blues’ finished strong as every member worked together to a 3rd place finish.

The 15 Black team started and ended strong as they swept pool play going undefeated and ranked first in playoffs.  Led by Coach Jared Williams, the team finished with a solid win in the finals to end their first regional tournament on top.
